January 2018, the second part of the annual survey of the Banque Populaire / FFF / CSA franchise confirms the willingness of French to undertake a franchised network: 39% of them would like to start their own business or start their own business.
With an increase of 8 points compared to 2016, this trend remains relatively stable since 2014. In addition, 44% of them are considering starting a franchise, which confirms the attractiveness of the model!
For these French entrepreneurs, the advantages of the franchise are numerous, including the support and resources put in place for franchisees are cited by 41% of them, followed by the brand awareness (for 40 %) and the desire to limit financial risks (for 29%).
On the other hand, when a franchise candidate decides to “take the plunge”, the criterion of brand awareness becomes paramount, followed by the power and the means of the network.
In order to choose, 95% of the candidates for the franchise first inquire about the network, notably through the Pre-contractual Information Document (DIP), the evaluation of the quality / price ratio of the concept or the profitability of the existing outlets.
Coaching and training of franchisees.
The initial training, essential for the transmission of know-how, lasts an average of 32 days. The quality of these courses is underlined by 75% of franchisees who believe they have been well prepared before launching their activity.
Continuous training, with an average duration of 24 days (compared to 18 in 2016 and 2015) was proposed to 76% of franchisees (according to franchisors). The face-to-face format (90% in 2017) remains the most widely followed by franchisees. As in 2016, 63% of franchisees have received e-learning training.
Finally, the coaching / sponsoring of franchisees by a franchisee already installed within a network, addressed for the first time this year in the survey, is organized by 70% of franchisors.
