The hotel group has just announced its expansion ambitions in South Asia. The hotel cooperative sees Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as markets with strong growth potential.

The group plans to enter the Sri Lankan market in the coming months with the opening of its first establishment: a 60-room hotel in the city of Colombo. In 2012, the number of international visitors to the country exceeded one million, and the authorities are planning to welcome 2.5 million tourists by 2016. Best Western will expand its presence in Bangladesh, initially adding four new establishments to its network.

Best Western currently has a portfolio of over 200 hotels in Asia, and hopes to reach 300 over the next few years.
