As in every year since its emergence, franchising saw positive developments in 2015, whether in terms of the number of outlets, the number of franchisees or their remuneration, as confirmed by the latest publication of the FFF/Banque Populaire Annual Survey. To help candidates make their choice, we offer a flashback to the brands that won awards at the various prize-giving ceremonies held throughout 2015. Flashback to last year's winners, including Feuillette, Attila Système, Pandora and BiBoViNo...

Isocomble and Feuillette: the two 2015 Revelations

Presented at the Franchise Expo Paris trade show (held in March at Porte de Versailles), the 2015 Revelations awards went to Isocomble a network with a proven reputation in its field. The brand, positioned in the private homeowner market, was created in 2008 by the Isoweck group. After starting out on its own, franchising has successfully taken over since 2013. The medium-term objective is to reach 60 sites in France, followed by international expansion. The awarding of this prize to Isocomble is all the more remarkable given that the brand won out over Darty also in the running.

The jury also singled out Feuillette with a Special Prize. This tea room chain offers bread and pastries all day long. The first five units established the business model in 2009, and franchising was launched in 2014. The awarding of the Revelation to Feuillette must have boosted its ambitions, since by the end of 2015, two franchises had opened in the provincial towns of Bourges and Poitiers, and as with the branches, success was immediate, with a full clientele and sales figures from the outset. Born in the Centre region, Feuillette now wants to open in all regions of France, looking for people with business profiles who want to work in an environment that exudes quality, within a human-scale network that supports its franchisees whenever the need arises.

Variety on the menu for the 5 Coups de Cœur de l'Express

2015 has been a year of diversity, if we take a close look at the list of winners of the Coups de Cœur de l'Express, officially presented on March 24, 2015 at the Franchise Expo Paris trade show, like the Révélations. For this seventh edition, the jury had to make a choice from among the hundred or so brands present, and the five lucky winners come from professional universes with little in common, proving that franchising works for all types of concepts.

Tryba was awarded the Coup de Cœur for Sustainability and Controlled Growth. The group was born in Alsace in the early 1980s, and has since grown patiently to reach an impressive size, with 300 sales outlets throughout France and abroad, Italy was opened in 2015 .

Another universe with BiBoViNo which won the Coup de Cœur du Nouveau Concept award. This network offers quality wines distributed in vacuum-packed bags or Bag In Box. Born in the French provinces, the brand now has some 15 outlets throughout France, including Paris and as far afield as Israel, where a brand licensing agreement has been signed. The profiles sought are people with a taste for entrepreneurship, combined with an attraction for the culinary trades and conviviality.

Coup de Coeur of the participative network, Attila Système is a nationwide brand specializing in the repair, upkeep and maintenance of all types of roofs. Its 55 branches generated sales of 30 million euros last year, and Benoît Lahaye, who presides over the brand's destiny, makes a point of involving his franchisees through regular meetings and consultations, in order to constantly improve the brand's processes and efficiency in the field.

Two other networks received awards: furniture manufacturer Gautier (Coup de Coeur for Export Strategy), which intends to reach the 200-address mark in the medium term, and API(Auto Parts International, Coup de Coeur de l'Enseigne Étrangère en France), specialized in car parts, with some sixty locations in France.

Pandora wins "Enseignes d'Or" award

On October 19, 2015, hundreds of spectators gathered at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées to witness the presentation of the Enseigne d'Or award, in the presence of SNCF Chairman Guillaume Pépy, who had come to make the link between commerce and the essential places of passage that stations represent.

Among the major networks rewarded at this 25th ceremony by Alain Bouthigny, director of La Correspondance de l'Enseigne, in the world of franchising, let's mention costume jewelry stores Pandora in the "Performance" category. Originally from Denmark, the brand has 50 locations in France and almost 1,500 worldwide, ranking third in its international market.

Now it's time to look ahead to 2016, to evaluate and validate the success of all these brands, and to make way for new ones at the awards ceremonies scheduled throughout the year. These ceremonies will kick off at the Franchise Expo Paris 2016 scheduled from March 20 to 23, 2016 at Porte de Versailles, bringing together some 500 brands from all sectors.
