Having passed the milestone of 100 franchised units in 2014, Temporis is stepping up a gear.

Agencies are multiplying, and their profitability is all the more remarkable given that the sector is still struggling to recover.

Temporis Toulouse agency

After Nantes-Ouest on July 2 and Grenoble-Ouest on August 4, the Temporis network opened its 121st franchised temporary employment agency on September 14, 2015. Since the start of the year, 11 agencies have joined the network, which in 2014 passed the 100-unit mark in France.

Founded in 2000, the chain has so far expanded at an average rate of 8 additional branches per year. " We've always wanted to move at our own pace, choosing people who share our values", explains its founding president, Laurence Pottier Caudron. In fact, Temporis is now speeding up.

Firstly, because each franchisee is contractually required to open several branches in his or her area (the dates and locations are stipulated in the contracts). But also because the success of existing franchisees boosts the recruitment of new entrants. This began in 2014, with "18 new branches in the year".

However, the franchisor remains cautious, aware that network exits are always possible, and is only announcing a target of 160 branches in 5 years' time, i.e. a rate of 8 per year. Although he would certainly like to see more.

A highly profitable franchise for franchisees

The network is not only growing in size. For 2015, Laurence Pottier Caudron is hoping for sales growth "of between 16 and 18%" (16% in 2014). Whereas at the end of the first half of the year, the temporary employment market "was only +2..."

The franchisor derives his confidence from the results of his 80 franchisees. Convincing, even spectacular results. Nearly all Temporis franchises of three years or more publish their annual accounts, which in itself is quite rare. ("And those who don't are among the best", says the manager).

But above all, most of the sales seen on sites like societe.com are of 3 million euros or more. And the older ones do considerably better. Up to 6 million, as in Bordeaux, or even 7 million, as in Annecy.

What's more, profits are around 3% of sales, or in most cases between €90,000 and €200,000 a year (from year 3). For an initial investment of €140,000 excluding premises. A profitability to make many franchisors pale in comparison. " This is without prejudice to the remuneration paid to the operators", adds the manager.

Accelerate without losing your values

Aware of her success, the Temporis founder remains lucid. While acknowledging that she has entered anacceleration phase, she wants to continue to "allow herself the luxury of being selected on the basis of her values".

Laurence Pottier Caudron also wants to develop her second brand Temporis Consulting brand "to support the tertiarization of the economy". In 2016, she plans to open branches in Paris specialized by job type. She is also beginning to think seriously aboutinternational expansion.
