According to the Caisse d'Epargne - L'Indicateur de la Franchise 2014 barometer, 71% of franchisees experience a "sense of success". Despite, for a majority, incomes that are less than 30,000 euros a year.

According to the third edition of the Caisse d'Epargne - L'Indicateur de la Franchise barometer, 82% of current franchisees are satisfied with their overall situation. A total of 89% said they were satisfied with their choice of network, 71% felt they were succeeding, and 86% were optimistic about the future.

The study was carried out between August 2013 and July 2014, and involved 1,172 franchisees belonging to 24 franchise networks (10 from the service sector, 5 from the food and catering sector, 4 from the beauty and health sector, 3 from the building and renovation sector, 1 from the automotive sector, and 1 from the flower trade). The vast majority of franchisees (85%) own just one outlet. More than half (54%) have been in business for less than 3 years.

In detail, the franchisees surveyed paint a rather flattering picture of their franchisor, judged to be "available" (86%), "attentive" (79%) and "ready to assist in the event of a problem" (76%). 82% would recommend their network to a family member if they could. And 83% would re-sign themselves if they had to do it all over again.

They are much more reserved, however, when it comes to the "reputation" of their brand (only 57% in favor), their contractual obligations, judged too restrictive by over a third of respondents, and, more surprisingly, the mutual support between franchisees in their network, which receives only 45% satisfaction.

A mixed picture, then, which is partly clarified by the answers to the questions on their financial success. While one in two franchisees who have passed their first year of business achieves annual sales of over 200,000 euros, a quarter of them fail to reach 100,000 euros. Above all, two out of three (67%) claim to earn less than 30,000 euros a year from their business.
