Giropharm (550 pharmacies in France) is a group with a cooperative spirit, both in its history and in the way it operates. The changeover to a cooperative, voted unanimously on December 12, 2014, brought the group's legal status into line with its mode of operation.
Giropharm's legal transformation into a cooperative required a favorable vote from all associate pharmacists, without exception. To meet this challenge, a major mobilization campaign has been conducted in the field by the Directors, the pharmacists referring to the subject and the Giropharm teams since October. It's now a successful collective challenge: on December 12, 2014, members voted unanimously to change Giropharm's status to a SA Cooperative.
Adopting cooperative status offers significant strategic and economic advantages in a context of severe economic constraints. In particular, it will enable us to :
- Strengthening group cohesion.
The ability of pharmacists' networks to mobilize will play an increasingly important role in meeting the challenges facing the profession in the future: increasingly selective referencing by partner laboratories based on guarantees that purchasing and sales targets will be met, pharmacy accreditation prerequisites for practising and receiving remuneration for new missions, and so on. The cooperative status enhances Giropharm's cohesion in decision-making and acceptance of projects in the collective interest (Minimum Joint Purchasing Commitments, Quality Certification, Patient Therapeutic Education Training, Implementation of Real-Life Studies, etc.).
- Passing on more management surpluses to cooperative pharmacists.
The transformation into a cooperative will enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of the structure, placing the cooperative member at the heart of the group more than ever.
- Sustainable alliances.
As most pharmacy groups are still SMEs, it is essential to be able to build alliances with other independent structures if they are to survive in the long term. Becoming a cooperative will enable us to share resources with other cooperative groups (training, logistics platform, certification, etc.) and to set up effective partnerships through cooperative unions.
Giropharm's transition to a cooperative is set to lead the company along the path to modernity, while defending and perpetuating the independence of the structure and its cooperative pharmacists.
