On February 24, the French Minister for Production Redress made the trip to Machecoul, some thirty kilometers from Nantes, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Manufacture française du cycle, the emblem of "made in France" bicycles.
Taken over in March 2013 by the Intersport group with the support of the Loire-Atlantique General Council, the Cycleurope site in Machecoul (Loire-Atlantique), now named Manufacture française de cycle, is sticking to its roadmap.
Through this acquisition, Intersport wanted to control assembly and logistics, and thus virtually the entire bicycle industry. The gamble paid off, as Intersport now plans to assemble 350,000 bicycles there by 2015, instead of the 300,000 announced a year ago.
