"the growing network is holding up well".

"The cooperative chain, with 5,830 stores in 63 countries, should pass the 1.5 billion euro sales mark in its 2013 financial year. In a flat sports market, Intersport reported sales growth of 2.6% at the end of August in its lowland network. The group also announced a target of 35 store openings in 2014.

In a sluggish market, the Intersport network of independent stores turned in a more than acceptable performance. Sales for the network of lowland stores rose by 2.6%. The 10% growth achieved in 2012 (+6% on a like-for-like basis) will probably not be reached, but the momentum continues.

The mountain network recorded a 14.5% increase in sales over the 2012-2013 winter season.

The brand, which posted sales of 1.422 billion euros last year, should pass the 1.5 billion euro mark in 2013.

Thanks to its strong performance, Intersport is now the second-largest sports retailer in France in terms of sales, behind the untouchable Décathlon (a pure chain store) and ahead of Go Sport and Sport 2000.

The Intersport network's objective is to add 90 new stores on French soil over the next three years, to complement the 659 stores already in existence. This objective would create 2,000 new jobs in addition to the current 7,000."
