"Cooperatives, an attractive business model". This is the first formula that welcomes you to the coop fr website. Coop fr represents almost 23,000 French cooperative businesses, with 1,200,000 employees.

Their history goes back a long way: the first was born long before electricity in France, in the form of a cooperative grocery store in 1835. The best-known, agricultural cooperatives, came into being in 1888 under the reign of the kerosene lamp. Since then, cooperatives have mutated into a series of groupings spanning the agricultural, banking, retail and salaried sectors.

The cooperative sector is now a heavyweight in the economy, with cumulative sales of 307 billion euros in 2014, involving 26 million members - in other words, beneficiaries. But there are cooperatives and cooperatives. An employee cooperative such as SCOP, société coopérative participative, has substantially more to do with the Crédit Mutuel group, which meets the expectations of 7,600,000 member-policyholders thanks to its 83,000 employees.

So what are the advantages of working in a cooperative? In what form and for what benefits?
