Franchise Belgium

Always at the forefront of innovation, Carrefour Belgium is launching a fully automated drive-through, a first in the world of Belgian supermarkets. The drive is accessible 7 days a week, and customers pay using the Bancontact or homebanking app.

Taking advantage of the temporary closure of the Carrefour Hypermarket in Mont-Saint-Jean, for reasons of store transformation, and wishing to continue to serve its customers in the best possible way.

Carrefour Belgium is launching a completely revolutionary new type of drive: the fully automated drive. It consists of a wall of metal racks, part of which is refrigerated, capable of handling almost 50 orders a day, and accommodating both dry and fresh produce.

Collection 7 days a week

While consumers are increasingly keen to do their shopping online, some fear that they won't be able to keep to the time slot. The fully automated drive-thru is the solution to these limitations.

How does it work?

Customers surf to www.carrefour.eu/waterloo and place their order, choosing from among 17,500 references and the full range of local products available. When concluding their order, they can choose between two pick-up periods:

- The next day between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

- The next day between 4pm and 11pm.

It should be noted that, in practice, customers can collect their orders after 11 p.m., and deliveries made on Fridays with collection during the Saturday 4-11 p.m. time slot can also be collected on Sundays.

However, orders placed on Saturday will be available from Monday.

The era of drive 2.0

Once the order has been registered, it is prepared and placed in one or more racks (if the order includes dry and chilled products) on the automated drive.

The customer visits the store in the time slot of his choice. They identify themselves using the code they have received by SMS, scan the QR code that appears on the screen and pay for their order via the Bancontact app or homebanking.

As soon as payment has been made, the door(s) of the locker(s) open and the customer leaves with his goods. The customer receives his order details and receipt.

No more kiosks, no more handling credit cards and no more wasted time. Everything is automatic, fast, convenient, safe and comfortable.

Tailor-made for Carrefour

The automated drive has been specially designed for Carrefour Belgium by the refrigeration specialist who usually equips its stores. The 'wall' of crates can be dropped off by a truck as close as possible to the customer.

In Mont-Saint-Jean, this 'replacement' drive has been set up in the store's parking lot. The first orders will be available from May 7. All orders placed via the drive until September 1 will benefit from a 5% discount.
