On December 1, the FCA presented its first Trophées de la Performance du Commerce Associé awards. Among the five winners, Gedimat, no. 2 in building materials distribution, was commended for its cross-channel strategy.

On December 1, Gedimat won the Trophée de la Performance du Commerce Associé in the "cross-channel" category. Multi-specialist Gedimat, with sales of 1.8 billion euros in 2013, launched an online quotation service for craftsmen back in 2011 to facilitate contact with the network's sales outlets. Recently redesigned, its website has since switched to a "Web-to-Store" e-commerce model, supplied with thousands of product references from fifty of its 500 members.

" The redesign of our online purchasing platform has enabled us to grow from around 2 million to 7.5 million unique visitors per year," said Frédéric Ondet, Deputy Managing Director of Gedimat, at the FCA Awards ceremony. According to Ondet, the site has not only enabled distributors to expand their customer portfolios, but also to better qualify their product references, which in turn has led to " improved logistics and better inventory management ". The next step for the group is to upgrade their website to a " responsive design " version (with an interface that adapts to reading on tablets and smartphones as well as PCs), and to switch a further 70 members over to their e-commerce solution.
