Banque Populaire has presented the results of the 19th edition of its annual franchise survey, in partnership with the Fédération Française de la Franchise (FFF) and with the participation of Kantar. This national survey measures the trends and specificities of franchise entrepreneurs, providing an overview of franchisee and franchisor profiles, strategies, strengths and concerns.

Franchising will continue to attract entrepreneurs in 2022

According to the survey, 34% of French people questioned want to set up their own business, and 44% of them plan to do so as a franchisee. This proportion is up by 6 compared to 2019. Among the main advantages cited by future franchisees are the personalized support and substantial resources offered by the franchise network to develop their business. Brand awareness (40%) and the financial benefits of franchising are also key factors. The survey also reveals that 76% of applicants are former employees, and 43% of them have taken the opportunity to change business sector.

The growing importance of sustainable development and digital technology in franchising

Franchisees are also increasingly attentive to the commitments of the brands and chains they frequent. Some 60% of those surveyed noted that their customers are seeking to give meaning to their consumption, and are demanding environmentally-friendly product offerings. Franchisees are also making increasing use of digital tools such as social networks and online appointment booking.
